Hasbro and Starlight Partner to Make an Impact

Hasbro has donated and delivered tens of thousands of toys, books and games to children’s hospitals across the nation by partnering with Starlight since 2020. 

Kids love the familiar and beloved characters they see in the toys. In fact, these toys have ample benefits for kids going through hospital stays.

In a recent study among Starlight’s hospital partners, 82% reported that patients’ stress and anxiety were reduced when playing with toys. The study also found that kids feel safe and get a sense of normalcy when playing with toys with familiar characters. Hospital partners shared that normalization was a key factor in increasing patient compliance. 

Hasbro’s generous donations have been crucial to improving and maintaining children's emotional and mental wellbeing during their hospital stay.

Hasbro employees came together to pack Joy Bundles, each filled with Hasbro classics. Hasbro worked with Starlight to deliver these Joy Bundles to children’s hospitals in Starlight’s network to refresh their common spaces and playrooms during the holidays. 

In 2023, Hasbro celebrated National Play-Doh day on September 16th. Not only did they send 900 jumbo Play-Doh variety sets to the Starlight hospital network, but they also hosted a Play-Doh day event for the kids at Children’s Hospital of Minnesota.

In celebration of the International Day of Play, Hasbro offered Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) adventures to Starlight’s U.S. partner hospitals at over 800 locations nationwide. D&D themed toy deliveries were also given to kids at six children’s hospitals in Providence, Seattle, Austin, Durham and Los Angeles. Hasbro employees also attended the hospital events in Seattle and Los Angeles to help lead gameplay!  

Natalie Cross, Global Communications at Hasbro, shared why volunteering at this event was meaningful to her: 

“Hasbro’s mission is all about creating joy and community through play – and this experience allowed us to truly put our mission into action. On a personal level, as a mom to two young kids and a goofball in general, I love being around kids, because their sense of wonder and fun is contagious.”
